Getting set up

Customising the game

1. Click "Customise board" to reveal the add/remove controls.
2. Click "+ Add category" to add another column, or the small × to remove a category (choose from 3 up to 8 categories).
3. Use the "Questions per category" + / − buttons to add or remove question tiles (choose from 3 up to 6 rows).
4. Use the × to remove teams or the "+" to add more teams (choose from 2 to 6 teams).
5. Tick "Use a countdown timer" to add an optional timer, then use the +/− buttons to set how many seconds each question gets (from 10 up to 120). Leave it unticked if you'd rather play without one.
6. Further customise the game by changing the board, category and team names by clicking the box and typing.

Add your questions and answers

1. Click a tile and type your question in the space provided.
2. Click "Add / edit answer" below the question to type the answer.
3. Click "Back to board" and repeat for the rest of the tiles. Tiles with a question and answer saved will show a small coloured dot.

Note: clicking "Reveal Answer" counts the question as being played and will grey out the tile, so only click it when you're actually playing with your class. If you click it by accident, open the tile again and click "Mark as not played".

To play

1. A team picks a category and a point value.
2. Click that tile to show the question to the class. If the timer is turned on, it appears above the question, simply click "Start" when you want the countdown to begin, and "Reset" to put it back to the full time.
3. Once a team answers, click "Reveal Answer" to show the correct answer.
4. If the team answers correctly, click on the points (in the top right corner) and assign it to the team.
5. Click "Back to board" and move on to the next question.

Notes on saving & resetting

Everything you type on this site is stored only in this browser, on this device, it isn't backed up anywhere else. Clearing your browser's history, cache or site data, using a private/incognito window, updating or reinstalling your browser, or opening the board on a different browser, computer or device will NOT bring back your saved work. Once you've built a board you don't want to lose, click "Save my game" to download it. The file that is downloaded can be opened on another device and used at any time.

When you click "Reset round" you will wipe all points from the board and reset the questions to being unanswered. The questions themselves will remain unchanged. This is helpful if you want to play the game multiple times with different classes.

Several boards on one device

The "Your boards" tabs down near the bottom of the page let you keep up to 10 separate boards ready to go on this device — handy if you teach more than one class or subject. Click "+" to start a new one, click a tab to switch to it, and click its name (once it's open) to rename it. Each board is saved separately on this device only, but you can still download any board on its own with "Save my game" while it's open.
