Getting set up

To add your questions and answers:

1. Click a tile and type your question in the space provided.
2. Click "Add / edit answer" below the question to type the answer.
3. Click "Back to board" and repeat for the rest of the tiles. Tiles with a question and answer saved will show a small coloured dot.

Clicking "Reveal Answer" counts the question as played and greys out the tile, so only click it when you're actually playing with your class. If you click it by accident, open the tile again and click "Mark as not played" to put it straight back on the board.

Before playing

The title, team names and category names can all be renamed — just click the text and type.

Setting up the board

The board doesn't have to stay at 6 categories and 5 questions each. Click "Customise board" (next to "How this works") to reveal the add/remove controls, then hide them again once you're done so the board stays clean and clutter-free while you're teaching:

1. Click "+ Add category" to add another column, or the small × that appears on a category to remove it (from 3 up to 8 categories).
2. Use the "Questions per category" + / − buttons to add or remove a row of tiles across every category at once, so the board always stays a neat rectangle (from 3 up to 6 rows).
3. A small × also appears on each team card, plus a "+" to add another (from 2 up to 6 teams).

To play

1. A team picks a category and a point value.
2. Click that tile to show the question to the class.
3. Once a team answers, click "Reveal Answer" to show the correct answer — this is what marks the tile as played.
4. Click the points badge above the question to add those points to the team that got it right.
5. Click "Back to board" and move on to the next question.

Saving & resetting

Click "Save my game" to download a standalone copy of the board that's currently open — bring the file to any other computer to keep playing there.

Click "Reset round" between classes to clear played tiles and scores while keeping every question and answer exactly as you wrote them.

Everything you type is stored only in this browser, on this device — it isn't backed up anywhere else. Clearing your browser's history, cache or site data, using a private/incognito window, updating or reinstalling your browser, or opening the board on a different browser, computer or device will NOT bring back your saved work. Once you've built a board you don't want to lose, click "Save my game" to download it — that downloaded file is your real backup, so keep a copy somewhere safe (and download an updated copy again any time you make big changes).

Several boards on one device

The tabs above the title let you keep up to 10 separate boards ready to go on this device — handy if you teach more than one class or subject. Click "+" to start a new one, click a tab to switch to it, and click its name (once it's open) to rename it. Each board is saved separately on this device only, but you can still download any board on its own with "Save my game" while it's open.

These tabs are stored the same way as above — only in this browser, on this device — so they're just as easy to lose to a cleared cache or a new device. Download ("Save my game") each board you care about rather than relying on the tabs alone.
