Guess My Rule

Guess My Rule is one of those games that hooks students from the first round. It’s interactive, quick to set up, and brilliant for building number sense in a fun way.

How It Works

The teacher writes several number pairs on the board for the class to see. Students study the pairs carefully, try to figure out the pattern or connection between the numbers, and then explain how one number changes into the other, sharing their reasoning with the class.

For Example:

The teacher writes:

2 → 6  
4 → 12  
5 → 15

Students look at the numbers and notice that each first number is multiplied by 3 to get the second number. They then explain: “The rule is multiply by 3.”
