The Hot Seat
How It Works
Divide the class into two teams and choose one representative from each team to sit in the “hot seat,” facing the class. Place a paper on each student’s forehead with a number or maths concept they cannot see. The student then asks yes, no, or maybe questions to work out what is on their card. Set a time limit for each round to keep the pace exciting, and award the point to the team who guesses correctly first.
For example:
Hot Seat Student: “Am I greater than 50?”
Teammates: “Yes.”
Hot Seat Student: “Am I even?”
Teammates: “No.”
Hot Seat Student: “Am I a multiple of 5?”
Teammates: “Yes.”
Hot Seat Student: “Am I 55?”
Teammates: “Yes!
