Maths Warm-Up: Wipe Out Game

Welcome to the Monday Morning Maths Club!

Today, I’m here to help you kick off your week with a free, no-prep maths activity that’s quick, fun, and ready to use in your classroom - Wipe Out Game! It is perfect as a maths warm-up, whole-class game, or small group challenge.

Wipe Out Game

If you’re looking for a maths game that really hooks students, you’ve got to try Wipe Out. It’s quick, lively, and always gets students on their toes while practising their number skills.

How It Works

Give each student a mini whiteboard and ask them to write 6 random one-digit numbers. Call out a math equation, and students check if the answer is one of their numbers. If it is, they erase it. The first student to wipe out all their numbers wins!

Example:
Call out an equation like (5 × 2) − 3 = 7. If a student has 7 on their mini whiteboard, they erase it.

Equations you can try:

  • 2 + 7

  • 15 − 8

  • 6 × 1

  • 18 ÷ 3

  • 9 + 0

  • 20 − 17

  • 3 × 5 − 10

  • 10 ÷ 2 + 3

  • (5 × 3) − 12

  • 8 + 7 − 14

Why It's So Good

  • A fast-paced, fun game that gets students actively involved

  • Keeps everyone engaged and participating

  • Easy to adjust for different skill levels so all students can join

  • Builds mental maths skills in a hands-on way

  • Quick to set up and completely no-prep

Try Wipe Out and see your students thinking fast, competing, and enjoying every moment of maths class!
