What's the Date Today?
This maths warm-up brings a little excitement to your morning routine. It is a quick, interactive maths activity that engages the whole class.
How It Works
Write today’s date on the board in this format: month/day/year (e.g. 10/12/2025). Using only the digits from the date, students create equations to make the numbers 1–10 (you can adjust the range for different levels). Each digit can only be used once in each equation.
Example using 10/12/2025:
Numbers 1-10
1 → (2 − 1) = 1
2 → (2 ÷ 1) = 2
3 → (5 − 2) = 3
4 → (5 − 1) = 4
5 → (10 ÷ 2) = 5
6 → (5 + 1) = 6
7 → (5 + 2) = 7
8 → (10 − 2) = 8
9 → (10 − 1) = 9
10 → (10 × 1) = 10
